Rehabilitation
Surgery
Our physicians treat many fractures from initial diagnosis all the way through to complete recovery.

Different types of fractures include:

  • Complete fracture: In a complete fracture the bone is completely separated and may be displaced within the body.
  • Incomplete or greenstick fracture: The bone has not been completely broken is still significantly damaged.
  • Open or compound fracture: Part of the bone has broken the skin. This type of fracture carries an increased risk of infection.
  • Avulsion fracture: A small fragment of bone breaks off from the main bone.
  • Stress fracture: A hairline fracture of the bone caused by too much exercise or prolonged pressure on the bone.

Common indications of fractures include pain, tenderness, bruising and swelling. Fractures may be prevented with appropriate warming up before exercise, using proper technique during exertion and employing safety equipment. Our physicians treat fractures with casts, bracing and, if necessary, surgery.
